Your content is an asset. We make it more valuable.
All businesses that run on content marketing have the same fundamental problem: search engines are changing and making old-style content irrelevant.
Your Internet business lives or dies on traffic generated by content. As the top of your sales funnel, if content isn't driving conversions directly then it's driving brand awareness, newsletter signups, or other opt-ins.
You probably manage your content like this:
Research Write Post Promote
But you should be doing this:
Research Write Post Promote Improve
Why do you need that last step?
Because if you don't, you're losing traffic to other sites that have more complete, more optimized content.
What is optimized content?
Google and Bing are increasingly using artificial intelligence to return better search results. To rank for a search query, you need to use the correct words and phrases that indicate you're the authority on that topic. To act in concert with search engines, we can also use AI to determine the words and phrases that should be in a content piece. This also has the pleasant side effect of making your content better.
You have a small window of opportunity to get a searcher to click through to your content from a search results page. That means you need a good meta title and meta description, and hopefully a short, succinct link. Click-through rate from a search page is a likely ranking factor.
Most people that look at your content will skim it. Walls of text should be broken into pieces, and paragraphs should be shorter and easier to read. Google knows how long a person typically stays on a page. If you can increase time-on-page and keep a reader reading, it says, "I'm valuable to searchers - put me higher in the search results."
There are spelling and grammatical mistakes on the pages of an untold number of companies. While a customer's decision to use your product might not hinge on your editing errors, it'll color his thoughts on your attention to detail.
Linking tells search engines what your pages are about and, lets you control some of your website's "juice", and might even get your website visitors to stick around on your site a little longer. Content that links to outside resources as well as internal pages is proven to rank higher than content that uses neither ranking strategy.
Products aren't delivered without customer-indluenced tweaking. If you're focusing on content marketing, content is simply another product that requires tweaking. There's often a difference between what you want to do with your content and what actually results in conversions.
"About seven months after the updates were complete, [Neil] Patel’s site ranked for 92,400 keywords and more than doubled the monthly visitors."

Take a look at your old content. You might ask yourself:
You realize that you need know a lot, and do a lot, to get your content right.
It'll be one of those jobs just like many others:
You'll bend your mind towards it for some period of time. You'll block out a chunk of time each week to do it, but eventually it devolves into looking at cat pictures and "researching" future articles. (We're not judging, we just know what it's like to work on non-core parts of your business!)
"Modified content saw an organic traffic lift of 17.5%...[indicating that] optimized content can create increases in organic search traffic."
Content optimization can be a slog through a pudding-thick sea that's dotted with the shipwrecks of good intentions and rife with attention pirates that steal you from your efforts. While you might imagine arriving at your tropical paradise, "Optimized Content", it'll probably linger on the horizon indefinitely. There just aren't enough hours in the day.
